Presbyopia
Presbyopia is the loss of near vision as a person ages, making them depend on the use of reading glasses and/or multifocal glasses. The reason for this vision loss is the loss of flexibility in the eyes’ muscles, causing difficulty in focusing on items up close, a reflex known as accommodation.

Many people fulfill their need for bifocal or progressive lenses when they realize their arms have gotten too short to continue reading without glasses. Presbyopia is extremely common in people over the age of 40.
On a prescription, presbyopia can be identified by the presence of a number in the “ADD” category. Thanks to modern day technology, people with presbyopia no longer have to wear the lined bi- and trifocal lenses their elder generations wore. Instead, progressive lenses can provide a youthful and streamlined resolution to the loss of near vision.
Visio-Rx provides a wide variety of bifocal and progressive lenses to make treating presbyopia as simple as possible.
